New York
This summer I travelled out to Welcome Edition trade show again in New York to show the Oscar Deen SS25 collection. I met some great people, at an expanded trade show which was set in the old Barney’s property on Madison Avenue. As per usual the show had a curated brand mix with the likes of Drakes, Adsum, Oliver Spencer, Manastash, Stan Ray, and Porter Yoshida.
For my ‘buyers tip’, I’m giving it to LHN Jewellery. A handcrafted jewellery brand from Brooklyn. As I have only accessories in my brand roster this stood out for me, their designs give off vintage Americana bike culture, with collections named, Nautical, Americana, Mexican biker, Sentiment and Tiki; the vintage aesthetic ticks a box for me.
Highlights include the Welcome Edition x Karhu organised run (11) across Williamsburg Bridge and back. With temperatures in the high 30 degrees celsius running this week was sweaty! Yes, New York is very humid in July. But I’ve probably never completed as many miles on a trip before, starting most days with a run up and down the Hudson river. Such a beautiful city to run in, next time I’m tempted to stay closer to Central Park.
Lapping up the fashion week scene, we went to the launch of Nicholas Daley’s Summer Reggae Klub collection at - Million Goods in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
More Lobster Rolls! We revisited Red Hood in Brooklyn, but had advice to try a new Lobster roll spot, Red Hook Lobster Pound, which didn’t disappoint (04). Then we hit up San Pedro Inn on the same street, a ‘Bar Cantina with Mexican Street Food’(10). We came for the cocktails, I’d recommend the Paper Plane. An absolute gem, will definitely go back!!
It should be quickly forgotten but England were in the Euro’s final while we were in NYC. Although the game was unmemorable, the food we had on route to Carragher’s Bar was epic - Two Hands, in Tribeca. I had the Harissa Chicken Bowl (06), so so good.
